Success

My imperfections and failures are as much a blessing from God as my successes and talents.  ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Have faith! It can move the “mountains” in your life.

 Good mawning!

Mountains and obstacles
Have faith! It can move the “mountains” in your life.
Yesterday morning, as I was in a women’s bible discussion group, we read about the reports that were given by the scouts who went in to check out the “promise land”. One report brought back fruit as evidence and shared about the people living there. They could see it was possible to go into this land and enjoy its fruitfulness. And the report from some of the others did not have the same faith. They even diminished themselves in description to make “mountains” out of the people that were there and how they would not thrive in that land.
Sometimes God will literally bring you and present you with where it is that you can thrive. It can be new, even scary. It can also be what you were not seeking. And when you trust that you have been brought to where you are best fit, and you start looking at how we were already groomed and “readied” to fit before being presented, you will see a fruitful land and give a good report.
We could see the picture of it clearly. As though it was the following weekend for us that we had already planned out. My hubby would be doing this, this and this, similar to weekends we have experienced before. The boys would be learning even more from what they have already done in the past and applying themselves more in those areas, plus exploring, and taking photos. And I felt the energy of the new experience. Applying myself to learning from what others have been doing and envisioning and adding the contributions that I have wanted to and collected in the back of my mind for years. In my down time, I would finally allow myself the heart and head space to dive into my art forms and expressions, knowing that everyone else was in a space in which they could do the same….freely.
That’s how we approached it. This new opportunity. With faithfulness, trust, and seeing the good to which we were presented. And at the same time, there are “forces” that are not seeing or even hearing the picture or the vision that we hold. How can they know that this is familiar and possible to us unless they hear so? What seems to be playing out in the process is like the “building” of mountains when the fullness of the vision is not seen.
But if you have ever climbed a mountain, you would know that it’s about the steps you take and navigating what you encounter so you can take the next step. You figure out what kind of training helps you to be able to take more “certain” steps. You build the endurance and the familiarity to the terrain. You build that awareness in your mind that, in order to move on and around a mountain, you have to approach seeing the mountain in a different way.
I still marvel at some of our trial running friends who simply seem to “hop” onto a mountain and go out and back like how me and the boys go for a walk each day. We will get there….again. Feeling the fullness of our lungs filling as we approach the opening to a trail and “diving” into it’s welcoming and unknown journeys.
And in this moment, we feel distracted. Distracted by the “fear” and “freeze” that seems to be facing us. We actually don’t see these obstacles in the same way that others are trying to present to us. The story we see tells a different story.
And that’s it isn’t it…? Getting in the “report” from multiple viewpoints. Looking for the good and possible while also counting the costs it involves. And all journeys involve a “cost”. But when the dues are paid and the true value of the journey is embraced, you can really appreciate that it was worth going forward and making that step.
So for now, we are fighting to hold onto the vision and the value of this experience. Seeing ourselves through God’s eyes and knowing that the land ahead that is presented to us is good and fruitful.
