Good mawnin'!
Happy International women's day!
Today, I want to share the "Why" behind my consistent mode of celebration.
In truth, looking back on myself as a young girl, I DID have a vision of the woman I would become. I can still see "her" now and wonder where in the world did I see a representation of this calm, smiling woman in a long dress and headwrap and afro, surrounded by her homeschooled and tutored "international" children. Mother Teresa?
The women around me "had to" hustle. Rushing here and there, managing work and children and relationships... trying to keep up with her "youthfulness" and appearance, her health...oh, and her family too. Often using the phrase "good enough" when it came to herself, yet going all out for her family. Often burned out at the end of the day and then getting a blur of sleep before it was all expected of her again.
I wanted more. I wanted play and laughter...I felt I didn't get to "child" in the way I wanted to.
But when I saw the same pattern playing out for me as mom...something inside of me fought back.
I wanted that joy...that smile...that "calm" I later discovered as wisdom. And then one day John 10:10 in the bible stood out like bold print and has been with me ever since... "...life to the full".
What was missing was what the woman in MY vision held... fullness. She had the energy of a woman EMBRACING the joy of the fullness of HER life.
Accepting it all...as it is plays a role in her getting to live the life she desired.
My successes in life that I celebrate are my own, and for some, may not be the measure of success they would choose. And that for me is the point.
I GET TO enjoy the fullness of my life, from where I am at NOW
And so can YOU!
What do you enjoy about you and your life in THIS moment?
And, If you would like to know more, DM me "FULLNESS", and we can have a chat.
Enjoy being the wonder that is you today
