My imperfections and failures are as much a blessing from God as my successes and talents.  ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Navigating the cave.

 Good mawning.

Navigating the cave...
He was done. Tired of a job and industry, this pic was taken the day after he got laid off.
And this was only minutes before he drove away and set out across the country to see his parents.
I don't usually share in this way, but I feel that people right now may need to hear this.
This departure wasn't simply a trip to visit his folks before the holidays...he was in the "cave" of his journey (again) and needed space to sort himself out.
If you haven't heard of the "hero's journey", I suggest you give it a search. I may expand more on it and how I use it to help others navigate their perspective (and subsequent actions) in relation to where they find themselves on that journey.
Each of our journeys are our own. And we will cycle through the aspects of the hero's journey many times in our lives as we continue to grow and expand.
For our household, as we continue to grow and expand, we also experience going through the ups and downs. Due to a variety of health issues, including mental, we find that navigating depression (or being in the cave) comes more often than not. Or at least that's how it feels.
When we are in that space which feels constricting, dark, uncomfortable....many feel that it is "wrong" to be there. Then we make it unwanted, wrong, shameful, and give it meaning that we are broken and we need to fix it.
But what if it is just part of the journey. What if...it is where you were meant to be? What if it is that cave and that internal work you alone must go through, that part to collect your unique learning, reward, awareness, and growth on the other side?
What if you're being born into YOUR "new" on the other side, and although uncomfortable and unknown, you know it's temporary and worth the process.
On the other side of his month long trip, he came back with more "space" to process. And in the months that followed, more acceptance and contentment. More appreciation for what and who he had in his life....including himself.
It's not about the "not okay" moments, but maybe moreso allowing it to be "different".
And it's okay to experience different things in life...emotions and states too.

Post mothers day thoughts...

 Good morning!

Post mothers day thoughts...
I was called "Mom" years before I become one. And recently a friend had a post asking what we wanted to be when we grow up... "Architect, Interior designer, fashion designer, doctor, teacher, and mother."
That was from the age of 5. I can still see the vision of my multi-ethnic children (I wanted a child from all distinct regions of the world) and tutors teaching of different cultures and languages...of which I knew and shared in as well. I love the gift of children into this world. ❤❤❤
So I recently sat down with my son and asked him the same thing. I already know, because he has expressed what he has wanted from a young age as well.
But this time, the other things on his list that he is currently building towards didn't matter as much as his big dream...to become a father.
I've reframed my career choices based on why they were important to me and am still active in some way in all those areas. I remember the point where being "mother" was the road I was going to travel. Yet being diagnosed with autoimmunity, low fertility, and having to consider adoption was my reframe. Why? I believed in nurturing that continued unfolding of possibilities and divine expression into our lives and world. I believe there is greater still in our future as human.
I'm celebrating this "space" of parenting extra hard this year. For those that know, know. Our future as humanity is to be celebrated and dreamed of. For our children to be able to dream of the experience for their children in gratitude.
Let's continue to nurture the seeds of our dreams... our future is the soil in which they are planted.❤

Observing my own journey and just enjoying the flow

 Good mawning!

I'm sitting in simple gratitude this morning. And looking forward to the point in the day where I get to settle back into this mental space... I like observing my own journey and just enjoying the flow. That space of rest and peace is what I pass through in order to sleep at night and look forward to greet at the top of my day.
Today I am embracing it more fully as I know there will be mother's day hype to attend to.
But for now.... I'm at peace in my own company ❤ (and hanging out with God too 😉)
